From show judge Stephanie Zeiler: I love to see recycled material upscaled into artistic pieces. This work introduced me to picassiette, a technique I had not heard of before. At first you may just walk by and just see a roster, but as you get closer all kinds of wonderful details appear on the surface of the broken pieces. You can tell the pieces were thoughtfully chosen and placed to add another layer or interest to the piece. The choices of form shapes and textures in the plates add another layer of dimension and interest to the piece. If you haven't got up close to this piece and checked out all the subtle details you should. It's little visual gems placed within the larger structure and composition in the overall work.
