our chesapeake backyard

A visual exploration of the Chesapeake Bay through birds, insects, and plants — organisms that most people glimpse only in passing, if at all. Moving beyond the comfort of the porch, our Cheseapeake region is seen as a living, working ecosystem where nature is not just scenery, but an indicator of environmental health. Flora and fauna serve as indicators of both resilience and vulnerability, challenging viewers to recognize by the Bay not just as scenery, but as a shared, fragile backyard. By focusing on moments that unfold far from typical view, yet close to home, these images are messengers of what we choose to protect — or ignore.
